Why Keeping Your Glass Pipe Clean Matters

Cleaning your glass pipe isn’t just about looks—it’s about performance, flavor, and longevity. When resin builds up inside your pipe, it can block airflow, produce a harsher hit, and dull the taste of your flower or concentrate. Whether you smoke daily or once in a while, regular cleaning keeps your piece in top shape and your sessions smoother.


Supplies You’ll Need (Most Available at Big Leef)

Before you get started, gather your tools. Most of these can be found at our shop:

  • 91% or higher isopropyl alcohol

  • Coarse salt (sea salt or Epsom salt work best)

  • Ziplock bags or containers

  • Pipe cleaners or Q-tips

  • Warm (not boiling) water

  • Optional: Resin-removal solution or brushes


Step-by-Step Pipe Cleaning Process

Step 1: Clear out the pipeTap out any remaining ash or flower. Give it a quick rinse with warm water to soften residue.

Step 2: Add alcohol and saltPlace the pipe in a sealable bag or container. Pour in enough isopropyl alcohol to submerge it, then add 1-2 tablespoons of salt. The salt acts as a scrubber to break up sticky resin.

Step 3: Shake it upSeal the bag and shake it for 1–2 minutes. The alcohol dissolves the resin while the salt scrubs the inside.

Step 4: Let it soakLet your pipe soak in the solution for 30–60 minutes—longer if it’s heavily used.

Step 5: Scrub & rinseUse pipe cleaners or a soft brush to clean hard-to-reach spots. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and let it air dry.
